Review: Agora Doha, Marriott Autograph Collection

The Agora Doha is a boutique hotel nestled in Qatar’s new city of Lusail, and is a brand-new addition to Marriott’s Autograph Collection portfolio as of 2022. 

Agora Doha – Booking

On average, you can expect to pay $625–725 QAR ($230–$269 CAD) per night at the Agora Doha. As one might expect, prices during the 2022 FIFA World Cup were inflated much further.

When booking this property on Marriott Bonvoy points, the rate typically falls in the region of 22,000–30,000 points per night.

On the day of my stay here, I had arrived in Doha at 2am, and simply needed a place to crash until the following afternoon. My official World Cup accommodations were in a local apartment booked for the following night, with check-in starting at 3pm.

Doha’s major chain hotels had largely continued blocking award availability when booking in advance during the World Cup.

However, to my delight, the Agora – which had only opened a week before – happened to be releasing a few extra rooms that hadn’t been sold for booking on points, so I went ahead and redeemed 30,000 Bonvoy points for a one-night stay for the opportunity to rest my head for the night at a pristine new Autograph Collection hotel.

Agora Doha – Location

The Agora Doha is situated in Lusail, overlooking the Lusail Marina.

Lusail is the second-largest city in Qatar and lies north of Doha’s city centre. This new city was essentially built specifically for the World Cup, sprawling along the coastline and playing host to marinas, resorts, residential and commercial projects, man-made islands, and several entertainment districts.

The Agora Doha sits right across the street from Place Vendôme Qatar, an architecturally extravagant Parisian-inspired luxury shopping mall that also houses the Le Royal Méridien Doha.
