Nestled at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Boulder is not just a university city, but a gateway to outdoor activities, from hiking the iconic Flatirons to exploring the scenic trails of Chautauqua Park.
The city is also home to a lively downtown area, where street performers showcase their talents outside the Pearl Street Mall, and there are numerous live music venues, restaurants, bars, and more.
With its unique blend of outdoor adventure and lively atmosphere, Boulder is not somewhere to skip off your bucket list!
2. Explore the Rocky Mountain National Park
The Rocky Mountain National Park is perhaps the most famous national park in the state, and is known for its majestic peaks, alpine lakes, and diverse wildlife.
One of the highlights is the scenic Trail Ridge Road, which provides breathtaking views and access to high-altitude trails.
For the more adventurous, you can climbing The Keyhole Route, a rock climbing route that goes up vertical rock faces to Longs Peak, the park’s tallest mountain. In the winter, you can even try ice climbing, if you’re feeling brave enough!
The gateway to the park is the town of Estes Park, and is a great place to base yourself for exploring the park and its trails. It has a few quaint shops, local restaurants, and a welcoming community atmosphere.
