Buy WestJet Points with a 50% Bonus

Buy WestJet Points July 2025

WestJet has launched its latest promotion for purchasing WestJet points (WSP), during which members can buy WestJet points with a 50% bonus. This time, the sale runs through to July 27, 2025, at 11:59pm Eastern Time.

In some cases, buying points from loyalty programs during a sale can make sense, since you can strategically “buy low and redeem high,” so to speak.

However, since WestJet Rewards is essentially a fixed-value points program with WestJet points worth 1 cent per point, it doesn’t really ever make sense to buy WestJet points, even during a sale like this.

Outside of sales, you can normally buy WestJet points at a rate of 1 WestJet point = 2 cents (CAD), excluding taxes.

During this promotion, you’ll receive the maximum 50% bonus as long as you purchase at least 2,500 WestJet points.

Plus, if you buy WestJet points with a Canadian billing address, you’ll also have to pay GST/HST on the amount of the purchase, since Points.com is registered in Canada. This further erodes any value of this sale, and drives up the cost even higher.

Therefore, if for any reason you want to buy WestJet points, it’s best to do so with a US billing address, since Canadian taxes won’t be levied on the transaction.

You can purchase up to 500,000 WSP in a calendar year, which is also the maximum possible amount you can purchase during this sale.

However, before you consider buying WestJet points, it’s imperative to consider if it’s a good idea in the first place, as the answer is almost always no.

Is Buying WestJet Points a Good Deal?

Before you consider taking advantage of this promotion, it’s important to take stock of the WestJet Rewards loyalty program, and the value you can get from purchasing WestJet points.

WestJet points can be used to offset the base fare and Other Air Transportation Charges of a WestJet flight at a rate of 1 WestJet point = 1 cent (CAD). If you redeem them against the government-imposed taxes and fees, the value drops down to 0.87–0.95 cents per point.

In the vast majority of cases, you can’t get any more value than 1 cent per WestJet point. This is in stark contrast to…
