Avianca, one of Latin America’s largest carriers, has announced that it will launch direct service to Montréal from Bogotá. The 4x-weekly is set to commence on March 31, 2024, in time for the carrier’s summer timetable.
Flights can already be booked through various channels, and as the airline is a Star Alliance partner, the route may also be booked through Aeroplan and other loyalty programs.
Avianca Launches New Montréal–Bogotá Route
Avianca will be launching new direct service between El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá (BOG) and Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL). As it stands, the service is set to begin on March 31, 2024, right around the beginning of the airline’s summer timetable.
The Montréal–Bogotá flight is slated for at 6 hours 14 minutes, while the Bogotá–Montréal flight is set to last 6 hours 45 minutes.
At the outset, service between the two cities will run four times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
The planned flight times are as follows:
- AV200 Bogotá (BOG) to Montreal (YUL), departing at 2:20pm and arriving at 10:05pm
- AV201 Montreal (YUL) to Bogotá (BOG), departing at 11:25pm and arriving at 4:39am the next day
Avianca hasn’t indicated an end date for the route; therefore, it suggests that the flights aren’t planned to be seasonal
The launch of this new route complements the existing service between Toronto Pearson (YYZ) and Bogotá (BOG), as well as between Toronto Pearson (YYZ) and San Salvador (SAL).
Flights will be operated using the airline’s Airbus A320neo aircraft, with an all-economy cabin.
It’s worth noting that seats on Avianca’s narrowbody aircraft are all sold as economy seats, with the option to upgrade to a Plus or Premium seat.
Plus and Premium seat differ mostly by their placement in the cabin, as well as their legroom and recline. However, service and amenities are the same as any economy seat.
Note that Avianca only offers a buy-on-board menu on its narrowbody flights, regardless of length.
