If you thought the Gold Coast region of Australia was all beaches and theme parks, allow me to introduce you to the diversity this region has to offer.

Yes, there are fantastic beaches on the Gold Coast, but it’s also surrounded by rainforest and everglades, offering the perfect escape from the golden sands that makes this area so famous.

When it comes to escaping the beach crowds and enjoying time in nature, there is no better way than to take a break at Binna Burra Lodge in the Gold Coast Hinterland.

Located within the World Heritage Listed Lamington National Park, Binna Burra accommodation is a change of scenery and to get away from all the theme parks and surfing culture.

But what is a stay at Binna Burra Lodge like? Does it live up to its reputation as the number one Gold Coast accommodation? Here is our experience staying at Binna Burra Lodge…

Binna Burra Mountain Lodge is an eco-lodge located in Lamington National Park at 800 metres above sea level. It’s surrounded by subtropical rainforest and the ancient Antarctic Beech forest.

Because of its rural location, it’s thriving with birds and native wildlife.

It was founded in 1933 by Arthur Groom and Romeo Lahey, who formed Australia’s first dedicated conservation organisation, the National Parks Association of Queensland.

They wanted to create an eco-friendly accommodation in the Lamington National Park, where people can enjoy the beauty of nature but also enjoy isolation and an escape from the stresses of the daily grind.

It holds an internationally-recognised certification (Green Globe Certification) for its environmental performance.

If you’re looking for a slower pace and a place to relax, then a stay at Binna Burra Lodge is perfect for you.

Because of its natural setting, it makes for the perfect weekend getaway from Brisbane and the hustle and bustle of the city, and all the stresses of every day life.

We do love a mixture of beach life with hinterland getaways and the chance to have space and enjoy the unique isolation and sense of peace.

This is why we chose to stay at the Binna Burra Mountain Lodge, located just an hour’s drive away from Burleigh Heads (90 minutes if you’re leaving from Brisbane).
