10 Best Hotels in Solvang, California

First laying eyes on the town of Solvang, California can be a delightfully surreal experience. One minute you’re driving through the beautiful, sun-soaked hills of the Santa Ynez Valley, and the next, you feel like you’ve been transported back in time to an old-world Danish town.

Rest assured, you wouldn’t be the first to initially suspect the town of being a mirage brought on by overindulgence at the many surrounding local wineries. But Solvang is indeed a real town that was founded by Danish immigrants in 1911. To this day, the spirit of Denmark is alive and well throughout the village’s flower-lined streets, Danish-style buildings, and authentic windmills.

The cozy village lies tucked away in the heart of California wine country, roughly 140 miles northwest of Los Angeles and 35 miles up the coast from Santa Barbara. If you’re looking for a genuinely unique escape, Solvang is a beautiful destination with plenty of equally stunning hotels.
