Duty Free Philippines is expanding with new stores and an online shopping platform, promising a convenient and fabulous duty-free shopping experience from home.
During a media dinner at the Luxe Duty Free by Duty-Free Philippines, we had a chance to engage in conversations with its Chief Operating Officer (COO), Vicente Pelagio A. Angala, as he cheerfully walked us through how the company recovered business in 2023. This included the good news that more stores will open in Clark Terminal 2, and an online shopping platform will be introduced as soon as February 2024.
Top categories where OFWs, Balikbayans, and families shop are chocolates and confectionery, liquors and wines, and perfumes and cosmetics.

In 2019, the company soared with an incredible sales milestone of 226 million dollars and a corresponding income surge of 464 million pesos. This impressive performance was fueled by unwavering dedication, translating into a significant contribution of 243 million pesos to the Department of Tourism (DOT).
Although the global pandemic brought about disruptions, Duty Free Philippines weathered the storms and made 2023 their year of resurgence and renewed optimism. In fact, there was a 53% increase in sales during the fiscal year compared to 2022.
COO Angala shared that they struggled to rise to the occasion but demonstrated their strength and resilience as an organization that can adapt and improve.
More Than Just Shopping: Supporting Philippine Tourism
In 2024, the company declares its commitment to featuring and representing Philippine culture and craftsmanship in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry. COO Angala also said that for 2024, with a 64% sales increase – it’s a challenge accepted.
