If you’re driving around near Joshua Tree National Park, you might stumble upon a rustic town that appears straight out of the Old West called Pioneertown. Pioneertown has never actually been inhabited by cowboys and frontiersmen. Instead, it was created in the 1940s by a group of actors and filmmakers to provide the illusion of a dusty Western town. Actors dressed as famous outlaws roamed the streets between scenes.
