1. Understand It’s Three Theme Parks

First of all, in case you are confused like I was before visiting, Universal Orlando Resort consists of three theme parks:

And then there is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which is located in both Universal Studios (Diagon Alley) and Islands of Adventure (Hogsmeade).

No, it is not called Harry Potter World, or Harry Potter theme park, or Universal Studios Harry Potter World as I kept calling it pre-trip – but I soon got that out of my system.

So you have three Universal theme parks plus City Walk. Don’t worry, it’s easy to get around all three by using the Park Hopper Shuttle Bus which comes with your tickets. You can find the best combo Park Hopper tickets here. 

2. Prepare for Excitement!

You’ll probably never see your kids more excited than when you first walk through the gates to Universal Orlando, especially when they enter The Wizarding World of Harry Potter if they are big Harry Potter fans like our eldest daughter!

I’ll never forget the look on Kalyra’s face as we entered Hogsmeade on our very first day at Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park. She’s read all the books and watched all the movies, and I think she could have cried.

In fact, we all couldn’t believe how magical it all made us feel. It was like we were stepping into the movie. Universal has done an incredible job bringing the Harry Potter series to life.
