Tangerine Mastercards: 10% Cash Back Up to $100

Tangerine has elevated welcome bonuses for their two cash back credit cards: the Tangerine Money-Back Mastercard and Tangerine World Mastercard.

Until July 5, 2023, the signup bonuses offer 10% cash back in the first two months, up to a maximum of $100 cash back for spending $1,000.

10% Cash Back in the First Two Months

The Tangerine Money-Back Mastercard and Tangerine World Mastercard are both offering 10% cash back on the first $1,000 spent in the first two months, equivalent to $100 cash back.

That’s all there is to it, with no requirement to spend in any particular categories or to hold the card for any specified length of time. The 10% cash back offer ends on July 5, 2023.

This is lower than the highest 15% cash back welcome offer that Tangerine has put out in the past few years; however, with no annual fees and a low minimum spending requirement to maximize the offer, it falls squarely in the low-hanging-fruit category.

Outside of these limited-time bonuses, Tangerine often doesn’t offer any signup incentive at all on their twin Mastercard products, making it a great time to apply if you’ve been interested in the card. 

How Does This Compare with Other Cash Back Offers?

Keep in mind that while 10% appears to be a high cash back welcome offer, it’s still capped at $1,000 in spending or $100 in cash back.

Comparing to other products in the range of no-fee cash back credit cards, the SimplyCash Card from American Express also stands out with a higher $200 cash back in six months.

The SimplyCash’s $200 cash back takes the form of a lower 4% return in the first six months up to $5,000 of spending. You’d have to spend a much higher amount of $5,000 in six months to get all $200 back, but it’s still a higher overall welcome bonus.

For those who may not want to “waste” so much spending capacity on cash back cards, the Tangerine Mastercards would be a better value proposition at a much lower $1,000 minimum spend.

What’s Unique About the Tangerine Mastercards?

Tangerine is known for offering a “choose your own adventure” approach to bonus earning categories: you’ll receive 2% cash back on up to three categories of your choice. This is identical across both the Tangerine World Mastercard and the Tangerine Money-Back Credit Card.
